She is an American author and Fashion Blogger best known for her blog The Man Repeller, an humorous website for serious fashion.
She started her first blog on 2009 with a blog called Boogers + Bagels. The name of the blog came from an anecdote that she explains on her blog “I was enjoying the fantastic weather while looking devilishly handsome clad in a Madewell Chambray light wash shirt with ripped Levi’s denim shorts”…”Anyway, I stopped at Bagel Bob’s to get a bagel and eat it in Washington Square Park. So I got it and I ate it and while I was eating it found a booger on my cream cheese. Boogers and bagels”.
The blog content covered fashion trends, personal anecdotes, feminism and humor.
In 2010 she decided to create a second blog that would be her most famous blog, The Man Rapeller. As she explained to Daily Mail, the name of her blog means: “Good fashion is about pleasing women, not men, so as it happens, the trends that we love, men hate. And that is fantastic.”
In 2011 she said that only in two months she had made $10,000 joining an Affiliate program (click here to know more). You can read the full article here (even if it is an old article you will get some interesting information regarding her business mentality).
In 2012, she appeared on the Forbes’s “Top 30 Under 30” as one of the year’s “most influential trendsetters” and her blog was recognized in TIME’s magazine as one of the “25 Best Blogs of 2012”. She also received the award “Best Overall Blog” from Bloglovin’ on 2012.
On March 2014 her Instagram had reached almost 550,000 followers and today she has 1,3 million.
In the beginning she managed her blog alone but now she employs six full-time employees to assist her with ad sales and articles. Her blog earns most of its income from advertising and brand partnerships with important brands such as Michael Kors, Gucci, Nina Ricci, and Armani. She has done also important collaborations with Superga, Del Toro shoes, and Dannijo jewelry that have brought her a lot of money.
It is estimated that her total net worth is around $5 million. Leandra says that authenticity has been key to her success and that is why sometimes she refuses to sell Instagrams on her blog, she says, “You can’t sell a review”.
